Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
Now I must say, I’m not a fan of mystery thrillers, but Angels and Demons had my head spinning. I love reading reviews on books I’m about to read. It’s nothing serious, but that’s just how I like it. So I was reading the reviews of this book on Goodreads, and I saw some people say, “Dan Brown was a crappy writer.” Nevertheless, I still felt I should read this book.
First thing first, to fulfill all book reviews righteousness. Dan Brown is not a crappy writer. He wasn’t and would never be a crappy writer to me.
Blurb of Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
World-renowned Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to a Swiss research facility to analyze a cryptic symbol seared into the chest of a murdered physicist. What he discovers is unimaginable: a deadly vendetta against the Catholic Church by a centuries-old underground organization
the Illuminati. In a desperate race to save the Vatican from a powerful time bomb, Langdon joins forces in Rome with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra. Together they embark on a frantic hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs and deserted cathedrals and into the depths of the most secretive vault on earth…the long-forgotten Illuminati lair.
Angels and Demons couldn’t have been written without well thorough research. For someone who hasn’t been to Rome, I could relate to the things and places in the book. The setting of this book was Rome and the Vatican City. Angels and Demons by Dan Brown is a story about the struggle for power between the church and science.
When I started with this book, I was pretty slow with it, then the plot began to advance, and I was caught with this book. I couldn’t drop the book. I haven’t read a book like this in a long time.
One minute you think you know how the book will end, and then there’s a crazy plot twist, and you’re like 😳😳. All through my flipping through this fantastic book, my mouth was left hanging. Angels and demons were simply an excellent read. Dan Brown gave a detailed storyline. In fact, it was too detailed to be a book.
If I’m not exaggerating, you could use this book as a map of Rome😂. It was unlike anything I’ve ever read before that I was forced to look up some of the words mentioned in the book on Google, and it was just there as he explained it. I’m a catholic, and I expected this book to leave me with conflicting opinions about the church and the Illuminati, but it didn’t.
Here’s a list of other exciting Mystery/Thrillers to read. These books will certainly keep you on edge.
Angels and Demons were written, so the reader was left with the choice to decide who was right and who was wrong. Although, the annoying part of the book was how the main character Robert Langdon never failed to remind us that some minutes ago, he was in his bed living a boring life.
It got to a time I was like, would you get on with it already😫. Robert Langdon proved to be innovative as he helped solve so many mysteries in the book, but on some occasions, he acted dumb.
It still remains a big mystery to me how an event that took place in less than 10 hours was written in a book of 900 pages. The ability of Dan Brown to transition in minutes is something to be studied.
Again, I have to say this Angels and Demons is unlike anything I’ve read, maybe because this is my first thriller which was thrilling. I’m currently on his second book, “the da Vinci code.” This thrill and excitement I feel reading his books cannot just end after reading Angels and demons. It ought to continue.
Suppose I could rate it a six-star, I would till I read a book that would beat the excitement in me right now. It remains a five-star.
