Ten Top Mystery Books to read

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

The list of the top mystery books to read will be incomplete without Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. I read this book last year when I joined a book club that died after we talked about this book. I’ve read this book twice and I still can’t get over it. The books writing style was unique. The plot was well developed. The characters matched their actions. And the suspense was crazy. The funny thing is after I finished the book, I couldn’t single out a character who stood out as the main character. So yes, it’s definitely one of the top mystery books to read.

Madeline is a force to be reckoned with. She’s funny passionate and biting. She forgives no one and remembers everything. Celeste is the kind of beautiful woman who makes the world stop and stares but she is praying the price for the illusion of perfection. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

I added this Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn to my TBR last two weeks. I’m not done yet but the book has been keeping me on my toes from the first page. I’ll recommend as one of the top mystery books to read for anyone any day.

Book Description of Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri. It is Nick and Amy’s fight wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband of the year Nick isn’t doing himself any favours with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone on the edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media as well as Amy’s doting parents. Nick parades an endless series of lies, deceits and inappropriate behaviour. He is oddly evasive and bitter— but is he a killer? Gone Girl is a toxic mix of sharp-edged wit and deliciously chilling prose.

  1. I’ve read almost all the books on this list but my personal favorite is the silent patient. This book kept me awake with a lot of theories and I didn’t see the ending coming at all.
